Bath Demolition were awarded the contract for the enabling works of a multi million pound Hospital redevelopment. The works took place within the constraints of a "live" hospital environment working to a tight programme due to the development teams following closely behind. The works included asbestos removal, demolition of a 120 feet high chimney using controlled explosives along with an element of minor building works.
Sustainability was high on the agenda, and through a series of pre-demolition audits we were able to identify items that could be re-used or recycled or offered to local free enterprise projects. We set ourselves a high target for the percentage of materials to either be re-used or recycled and we exceeded this with 98% of materials generated through demolition being either re-used or recycled.
